DJ Quartz’ Traktor Pro Mapping for Numark’s NS7 (including platter support)

Native Instruments surely takes its time to officially support Numark’s NS7. While most users are content with Serato Itch in the meantime, others strive for the ability to use their beloved Controller in Traktor Pro. DJ Quartz is one of them and he has been working hard to create the best Mapping-File out there.

MusicAlthough it has lots of flaws and shouldn’t be used in a live environment, I’ve created a small video to show you what is possible as of now. Please note that the plattern-support is broken in Traktor Version 1.24. I’m using version 1.23 in the video. I recommend to view it in HD.

Features

  • mixer-section fully working
  • track-browsing-section fully working
  • most loop-features are working
  • transport-controls including cue-buttons working
  • HID-pitch-fader and pitch-bend working
  • platter working (only until Traktor-version 1.23)
  • Start- and stop time and reverse-mode for the platter working

Known Issues

  • Bleep not working
  • Strip search working unreliable

plattern-related

  • Cue-points work unreliable if the plattern isn’t spinning
  • Platter control is always at 0% pitch
  • Wheel assignments have to be learned every session
  • Start Time adjustment only works intermittently
  • Turning the motor off while Playback is engaged results in a pause in playback

    can u be able to make a vid showing how to map the ns7 to traktor 1.2.1 on a mac? please I’m downloaded the map for tractor 1.2.1 and when i import the tsi file i click ok and when i press the play button on my ns7 nothing happens no lights light up or anything the eq’s don’t work nothing works please help!

      Yes, it will.
      You should be able to find other Traktor versions in the Download-area on the NI-website after you log in.

    So you know i got the numark V7 but thats not the thing
    The question is do you know the difference between HID and MIDI
    because the numark V7 is HID for so far i know. And i stil be waiting for the file for traktor, but take your time…….

      Your setup looks clean and awesome.
      That motivates me enough to release the (ugly) workaround soon.

      I’m also working on a wrapper-application which translates platter-data etc. for Traktor. That one will be the smoothest and easiest solution but I will need some time to do it.

    Is 1.4 mapping for the NS7 reliable enough for full-time DJ use?  Can I replace my VCI-100SE for use with Traktor?

      Hey Daniel,

      No it isn’t. I’m working currently on a mapping which is. I’m making good progress with it.

       Give me a few weeks to prepare everything.

      That’s great news.  I’m still a novice bedroom rocker (mostly) so I’ll go ahead and get the gear and practice in Itch and the current Traktor .tsi until your mapping is done.  I’ll pledge to drop you a fat tip when it’s done, @kidalex:disqus !

      Thanks, keep in mind that the new mapping will require a NI soundcard or Traktor certified mixer though.

      This is the only way to get the platter control right in Traktor at the moment.

    Ali, dude I can’t wait!  I was disapointed when T2 dropped without NS7 support.  Itch 2.0 is ok but no where near Traktor Pro IMO.

      My buddy Controlled Demolition showed a fairly decent working method which required you to use timecode. I’ll explain that in detail in a blogpost soon.

      I just can’t do it for now because I lack a NI-soundcard/certified mixer.

    I downloaded, but the dish does not work! everything else works.

      It needs to be assigned manually as Traktor can’t save the setting.
      I’ll update this post soon and explain how to achieve this.

    NOTE: You will need to use Traktor version 1.2.3, there was a change in 1.2.4 that broke the modifier which behaves as a switch for the platter control function.

    Hopefully it will be resolved in the next update.

      Currently the support is not too well, but I’m already working on a new method.
      If you really love Traktor you should upgrade your LE-version to Traktor Pro for around 99$.
