Traktor Pro Launcher – Launches different Traktor Pro versions

New versions of Traktor Pro have shown to be a double edged sword. On
one side there are shiny new features and bug-fixes, but on the other
side Native Instruments manages to bring in new bugs everytime.
You shouldn’t ditch new versions completely but instead install both.
Traktor Pro doesn’t offer the possibility to have more than one version
of Traktor Pro installed on a computer at the same time. However it
can be made possible by just copying 2 files before updating Traktor Pro.

Music,SoftwareTraktor Pro Launcher simplifies this process, by swapping the configuration
file “Traktor Settings.tsi” for you automatically.

Installation and Usage

1. Install the old version of Traktor Pro

2. Change to the directory which contains the configuration of Traktor Pro
(Preferences->Data Location->Root Dir)

3. Make a copy of Traktor Settings.tsi and rename it Traktor SettingsXXX.tsi where XXX needs to be the version number of Traktor the configuration  belongs to (e.g. 111 or 112)

4. Change to the application-folder of Traktor Pro

5. Make a copy of Traktor.exe and rename it after the same scheme as Traktor Settings.tsi before (e.g. Traktor111.exe)

6. Install the Traktor Pro Update

7. After starting Traktor Pro Launcher, the listbox should look similar to the one above. The star behind an entry marks the currently active version of Traktor Pro (the version whose Traktor Settings.tsi is currently in use)

8. Select your desired version of Traktor Pro and click “Start selected version of Traktor Pro”

After these steps either only start Traktor Pro through the Traktor Pro Launcher or the currently active Traktor version. Otherwise the Traktor Settings.tsi of the other version will be overwritten

FAQ

Q: Do I have install all versions of Traktor Pro like in the instructions above everytime?
A: No, you can install the latest version and place the correct renamed old TraktorXXX.exe and
Traktor SettingsXXX.exe in the appropriate folders (see above)

    servus, wie schon im vorangegangen post gleiches problem, allerdings und win7 pro x64 und uac ist ausgeschaltet. ist das prog nicht 64bit-fähig? wäre sehr schade, deswegen hoffe ich, dass es eine lösung gibt

      Es kann daran liegen, dass die gesuchten Registry Keys bei 64 Bit-Systemen an einer anderen Stelle liegen.
      Ich werden den Traktor Pro Launcher bald gegen ein neues Programm ersetzen, weshalb es sich nicht lohnt jetzt extra noch das Problem zu beheben.
      Warte einfach ab :)

    ich benutze windows 7, und bei mir kommt folgende meldung:

    “The Registry Key for Traktor Pro doesnt exist or you dont have necessary rights to access it”

    und die auswhahlbox ist dann leer… was kann ich da machen?

    so when installing the new version of traktor it asks to uninstall the previous versions, is this correct? and should i click yes?

      Yes, but backup your old Traktor.exe and TraktorSettings.tsi before like I describe in this post.

    Last updat Traktor with Win7 -ultimate en behringerbcd3000
    Unable to set midi and output-routing.
    Is there any trick?

  • Possible Multitude of uses for Pro Launcher… :)

    Hey Hey Ali… i’m having a related issue with my Win7/XP dual-boot and Traktor Pro’s Settings file/s. (Win7 (Traktor) does not like the XP settings). Thought your little app here might save me, (almost) but apparently renaming the exes and settings files to:

    Traktor (XP).exe and Traktor (Win7).exe
    (both reside in seprate program/s folders)

    Traktor Settings (Win7).tsi & Traktor Settings (XP).tsi are where they should be.

    Yeah i know, Didn’t quite work (as i’d hoped). lol.
    Any chance you can help a brother out? :D Hoping it might be a simple fix for a v2? :)

      Hey there.
      Instead of releasing a 2nd version, I’ll upgrade this tool.

      You’ll be able to create multiple profiles for Traktor.

      That will do the trick for you.

      The problem is that I currently have no time to do that.
      With some luck I’ll be able to release it this year, but don’t assume that.
