Der G15-Key Reminder Version 5

4

good stuffLogitech’s G15 is by far one of the best keyboards out there. The original version has 3x 18 special keys,
which can be bound to scripts, macros or other keys. That is insanely handy, but it can be a pain if you forget which
G-Key does what.
Therefore I created the “G15-Key Reminder”. This application shows all the descriptions you gave to your G-Keys in the
G-Series Keyboard Profiler when you press STRG+G. Here is a list of it’s current features:

1. Changelog
———-
Version 5:
- you won’t be asked anymore after closing the LGDCore.exe if the tool shall be closed too. It will simply shut down
since you can’t use the G-Keys when LGDCore.exe isn’t running
- When AutoStart is set to 1 in the settings.ini, you won’t be asked if LGDCore.exe shall be started. It will simply
start automatically. That is because if you log on Windows and the G15-Key Reminder is started before LGDCore.exe
you was asked to start it every time which can be very annoying
Version 4:
- new feature to start the tool automatically with Windows (see below for information on usage)
- 2 seperate versions for the new and old G15 Keyboard
Version 3:
- removed lglight.dll
- no seperate version for Vista anymore
- improved the hotkey-stuff
- there are now 2 modes: Show while keydown and Show on Keyhit!
Show while keydown (default mode): The window is shown while you press STRG+G
Show on Keyhit: If you press STRG+G the window stays on top until you press STRG+G again
You can switch the mode either by setting ShowWhenHotKeyDown to 1 or 0 in the settings.ini or
on-the-fly by double-clicking on the G15-Key Reminder window!

2. Features
———–
- Shows a little window with all your mappings (the description names you set) of the 18 G-Keys when you hold down STRG+G
- Can be automatically started with Windows
- Updates the descriptions automatically every second
- can be dragged anywhere on the screen
- saves the last position it was dragged to
- an alpha-value between 0 (=invisible) and 255 (=fully visible) can be specified in the file settings.ini
- Can start the Logitech G-Series Keyboard Profiler

3. Requirements
—————
- Microsoft Windows 98,2000,XP,Vista
- Logitech G11,G15 (new and old)
- Logitech G-Series Keyboard Profiler

4. Usage
——–
Start G15-Key Reminder.exe
If the G-Series Keyboard Profiler isn’t open already, you will be asked if it should be started now
Press STRG+G to show the Key Reminder on your screen
Double-Click on the window to switch the display mode (Show while keydown or Show on Keyhit)
Drag the window with your mouse on a position you like it
To shut the G15-Key Reminder down, just exit the Logitech G-Series Keyboard Profiler
If you want the G15-Key Reminder to be automatically started with Windows, you need to set ‘autostart’
in the settings.ini to 1. After the next start of the tool, that setting will be activated (or deactivated if you set it to 0)

5. Known Issues
—————
-G15-Key Reminder.exe crashes under Microsoft Vista , it’s an issue with lglight.dll
-It doesn’t work in most fullscreen games because they don’t allow a window to be placed on top of them.
This is only possible via ‘dll injection’ but this is very complicated. If enough people like this
release of the G15-Key Reminder I will work on it.

6. To-Do
——–
- Possibility to use this tool in all fullscreen games.
- better look for G15 v2
- any ideas?
